The passion of the silent ones

.
.
On May 22, 2007 a simple man posted a message in the teeming 8 lane highway that was the Save Jericho folder on the CBS Jericho Message Board. His name was jerk-o-cbs and the reason I call him a simple man is because of his sincere and straight forward message:
.
Hi,
.
I do not post much. I am very passionate about Jericho. There must be thousands out there like me that have read every thread and not responded. I read up until I go to bed, I read as soon as I get up. I am a man of few (typed) words. I sent email, snail mail, and honey roasted. My wife and I love Jericho. Bring it back. That's it.”

.
.
The post, in my opinion, is nearly perfect and it had an impact. It was an economical and poetic arrow that struck the targeted hearts of the silent, lurking Jericho fans and brought their hands to the keyboards. I was not there in Camp Passion that night but I have read through it and the responses do not stop coming. Here is a one from a poster many of you may know named Swenciler:
.
.
Hi have been lurking since the beginning of the board. I registered but only posted about twice-actually I was kind of frightened of some of the posters after I read the different threads. But since I found out Jericho was canceled-things changed-I faxed, I emailed a lot, I emailed sponsors, CBS, affiliates, snail mailed, bought nuts, and bought nuts again, and contributed to the Variety Ad, Right now I have to catch up because I was at work since 12 and I don't know what has happened. Thanks everybody for pulling together to save Jericho!! We will do it!
.
.

The thread came to be known as PASSION of the SILENT ONES *THE ORIGINAL "CAMP PASSION" JERICHO BOOT CAMP and reading through its beginnings really serves to conjure a palpable sense of the frenetic buzz of the boards; some of the folks who enter the thread almost seem winded. Amazing.

Brilliant choice, terocious! I followed along after jer-o-cbs's post number one and read into the thread 3 pages, all done on the same day, the 22nd of May. What I saw was a journal of many rangers, fighting for Jericho's second season. I copied some of the things I saw there - I was very struck by embersong's posts. She picked up jerk-o-cbs's original thread and ran with it. One post of many touched me, and I will post it here as it is as relevant today as it was a bit over a year ago:

“…Let’s all try to keep moving forward, but not so fast that we run over anyone. This is a movement, not a stampede. Everybody counts!...”

I think if anyone needs a remedial on why we do this, why you are even still involved in this, why don't I just walk away for good... I suggest reading this thread from page 1 forward. I think you'll see a bit of yourself there with all those Rangers from last year. I sure plan on using this thread as my inspiration and my guidebook! Thank you again for making me reflect on others reflections :-)

The 22nd continues on through something like 12 pages and then the 23rd goes on for an equal amount. It is too bad the posts do not remain time stamped permanently so we can get an even better idea of the breakneck pace.

Embersong was a huge part of the threads early days. She was poetic, articulate and above all passionate and she helped many to cross the 1st post threshold.

I would like to point out that camp passion went through some rough patches which are evident if you keep reading. I do not at all see the thread through rose colored glasses but I do chose to continue to define it by its original intentions as these seem to epitomize the innocence and simplicity with which many of us came to these boards.
